He was born in Akron in 1941. He graduated from Norton High School in 1960. He married Ruth in March of 1963. He served 4 years and 10 months in the United States Air Force from 1961-1966 as an aircraft mechanic. He was a crew chief on a T-29 aircraft. While he served, he traveled to Massachusetts, Japan, the Philippines, and Virginia. After an honorable discharge, he was employed at B.F. Goodrich as an aircraft mechanic for 37 years. He then entered retirement and spent his time enjoying his hobbies with his family which included camping, boating, trains, and aviation.
He was a devoted family man with time to spend with his kids, grandkids and great grandkids at marching band events or sporting events. During the week you could usually find him downstairs in the basement running his trains or working on the workbench making wood items for craft shows. Weekends were reserved for spending time on his boat "Waters Edge" at Lake Erie, train shows, and craft shows.
Harold loved his children, but he had such a special bond with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In his eyes, they could do no wrong. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
An Ash Burial Service will be held at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery on August 18th at 11:15 am. A celebration of life will be held on August 19th at 1 pm at Hillside Park of Clinton. Friends and family are invited to come together to celebrate Harold and the wonderful life he and Ruth created.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the Tallmadge American Legion Kneil-Lawrence Post 255, Tallmadge Little League, Tallmadge Athletic Boosters, or the Cleveland Clinic Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center.
