Harry J. Bender, Jr.

Harry J. Bender, Jr., "Sonny", age 83, of Tallmadge, Ohio, formerly of Akron, died peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer's on Thursday, December 28, 2017.
He was born on January 2, 1934 in Akron, the son of the late Harry J. and Clara (nee Stadelman) Bender, Sr.
Harry was a retired machinist from GoodYear Aerospace after 30 plus years of service, one of his jobs was making parts for the GoodYear Blimp. Harry enjoyed following the blimp around the city. He loved candy and playing bingo, and his grand dog, Rose Hershey. Harry also enjoyed spending time with his many, many friends.
Mr. Bender was an honorably discharged US Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his only daughter, Marsha Harrah of Akron; and one sister, Mary Alice Frank of Cuyahoga Falls.
Other than his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his wife, the former Sandra Reed, whom he married on September 5, 1958; and several sisters and one brother.
Cremation will take place and there will not be any services and his cremated remains will be entombed in Greenlawn Memorial Park next to his wife, Sandra.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in Harry's memory.
