Harry C. Jones was born in Harlan Co. Kentucky on December 13, 1935 to Mossie
Sue Bennet and Harry C. Jones, Sr. He moved to Akron, Ohio at the age of 9. He met the love of his life, Deloris George in school, and they were married November 14, 1953. They raised 5 children—Gary, Debbie, Greg, Jeff and Mitch. He leaves 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren, 3 sisters and one brother and several friends. He was preceded by his mother, father and two brothers.
He worked for the City of Akron, retiring after 40 years. During his time here, he enjoyed planes, trains and automobiles, hunting, fishing in Canada with his family, painting, gathering with his friends and his family and a good joke. His laugh was contagious. He had a great love of books especially history which he would always say he was born too late and wished he could have lived in the 1700-1800's so he could be a cowboy and shoot people legally.lol. He taught us so much and knew the word of God to which he would say—"When God closes a door, he opens a window".
A few of his favorite sayings were "Those who don't learn from the past are destined to relive it", "God willing and the creek don't rise", "You have to read between the lines", "Say la vie say the old folks" and "iddy biddy".
He lived a life you could hang your hat on. We know he was loved by all so please take some love with you today courtesy of our Dad and share it with your loved ones and say it everyday.
A broken heart can't tell time but please spend your time with each other as he would want and know that there is no future in the past.
