Harry Harris, Jr., 76, of Akron, went home to be with the Lord on October 8, 2010. Harry was born June 26, 1934 in Belington, West Virginia to the late Harry and Evangeline Harris. Harry proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from Goodyear in 1995 after 30 years of employment. He was a longtime member of Akron Baptist Temple where he served as a deacon and was active in the bus ministry, the deaf ministry, and the Always Hope Center. Harry will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 57 years, Helen; children, Bob (Judy) Harris, Pattie Harris, and Dwayne Harris; brothers, Ronald (Sue), Donald (Linda), and Richard (Joyce) Harris; sister, Nancy Pingley; grandchildren, Joshua (Claudia) and Andrew Harris; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Alex, Olivia, and Carter; and many other relatives and friends. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 4-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. Visitation will be Monday from 10-11 followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service at the Akron Baptist Temple, 2324 Manchester Rd., Akron 44314. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Always Hope Center at the Akron Baptist Temple.
