Harry Nelson Schaefer
Harry Nelson Schaefer, age 82, went home to be with the Lord on June 9, 2008 at Rose Lane Health Care Center after an extended illness. Born in Newcastle, PA, he was a resident of Akron for most of his life. He graduated from Ellet High School and is a former employee of Goodyear Aerospace. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hobart and Bernice Schaefer and brothers, Earl and Jack Schaefer. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Judy Schaefer; nephew, Lee Schaefer; nieces, Denise Toney, Laura Ondecker, Brenda Richmond, Linda Vuksta; several great nieces and nephews; and his beloved extended family at Rose Lane. He was a knowledgeable and avid sports fan and followed his favorite teams the Cleveland Indians, the Cleveland Browns, and the Ohio State Buckeyes. His hobbies included Bingo, fishing, boating, swimming, and working crossword puzzles. He spent the last four years of his life at Rose Lane where he actively participated in activities and outings. He was a kind and compassionate person who brought joy to all who knew him. Visitation will be Saturday from 11-12 followed by a 12:00 p.m. funeral service officiated by Rev. Judy Carter-Schaefer. Interment at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Massillon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Rose Lane Health Care Center Activity Fund, 5425 Highmill Ave NW, Massillon, OH 44646
