Hazel E. Cusma

Hazel E. Cusma, 95, of Portage Lakes, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 2, 2017. She was born June 25, 1921 in Campbellsville, KY. A lifelong resident of Akron, she was proud of the fact that she was the first and longest resident of the Portage Lakes Kiwanis Towers, where she was honored at their 30-year anniversary. After her children were grown she helped take care of her grandson Jonathon. Hazel loved visits from her children and being able to take care of herself until she was 94 years old.

Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Rosa Fawcett; brothers, Earl, Charles and Robert Fawcett; sisters, Melba Thompson and Frances Hunt. She is survived by her children, John Cusma, Carol (Don) Hemming, Patricia Cusma, Thomas (Faye) Cusma and Susan (Michael) Kelly; siblings, Faye Syler and Barbara Jean (William) Bault. Hazel also leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Hazel will be laid to rest at Hillside Memorial Park, Akron. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to : New Leaf Center, PO Box 336, 15988 B. East Chestnut St., Mt. Eaton, OH 44659. The family would like to thank Green Village Skilled Nursing for their loving care.
