Heather Zimmerman, 51, of Akron, passed away peacefully on November 16, 2020 with her family by her side. Heather was born in Barberton on March 10, 1969 and graduated from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Louisville, class of 1987. She spent 16 years as a cosmetologist before achieving her dream of becoming a licensed practical nurse. Through her hard work and determination, Heather put herself through school, raised her daughter, and provided a home on her own. Heather was diagnosed with cancer in April of 2018 and told she had mere months to live. Everyone who loved her marveled at her strength, courage, and warrior spirit. She took advantage of her time with family and friends, enjoying get togethers, trips to the beach, music, laughter, and love. Heather will continue to inspire all those whose lives she touched.
Heather has now joined her father, Robert Boltz and grandmothers, Hilda Boltz and Gale Elizabeth Schray. She will be dearly missed by her loving husband, Rodney Zimmerman; daughter, Jordan Glutting (Collin Rice); mother and stepfather, Peggy and Paul Shoemaker; stepchildren, Nicholas (Nicole) Zimmerman and Lindsay Zimmerman; her church families at Cornerstone Church and Newpointe Community Church; and many dear friends, including Tracey Cable and Leona Cable-Baldinger.
Per Heather's wishes, there will be no formal services at this time. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
