Helen Kaylynn Wise, "Kay", age 74, passed away on a beautiful day on Sunday, January 22, 2017 and is in the loving embrace of our Lord, after a long battle with ovarian cancer. Her perseverance and faith in God were always foremost in her life.
Born in Steubenville, Ohio, Kay grew up and resided most of her life in Akron, Ohio. She was a graduate of Central High School and retired after 34 years of service as a pharmacy technician. Kay was a loving mom, nana, and devout Christian, having been bestowed the honor of Elder Emeritus at New Horizons (formerly, Meade Avenue) Christian Church, where she had been a dedicated member for 50 years, actively participating in the Lord's worship, community faith-building and charitable works throughout her life.
Kay never seemed to meet a stranger, and she gave the best hugs! She would often counsel other cancer patients throughout her own treatments and always offered positive support to them, even becoming a volunteer at the Cooper Cancer Center during a period of her own remission.
Preceded in death by her parents, Virginia (Lenkner) Hooper and John and Bertha Lawler; her brother, Robert Lenkner.
Kay leaves behind her children, Kelly Stiles and Bob (Tina) Wise; like a son, Thomas Stiles; grandchildren, Leah, Diana (Ryan), Joshua, Luke, and Nathan; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Gracie, and Colton; siblings, Kim (Maryanne) Hooper, Barbara (Thomas) Flegge, Patrick (Phyllis) Lawler; and many nephews, nieces, and extended family, as well as a long list of friends and church family members too numerous to name.
On Kay's behalf, her family would like to thank her church family, friends, and caregivers for their enormous love and support over the years.
