Herbert Kresse Sr., born January 24, 1941, and passed away on January 25, 2022 after a brief illness. He was born in Maria Lankowitz, Austria, the youngest of nine children born to the late Josef and Maria (Gritschnigg) Kresse. He came to the USA and worked many jobs before becoming self-employed until retirement.
Herb loved music, the outdoors, hunting, fishing and cooking. He would always cook a big pot of venison stew every year for his employees and family. He was an active member of the Mogadore Moose and enjoyed spending time there. Herb loved his three children and his grandchildren placed a special sparkle in his eyes.
Herb was preceded in death by his daughter, Lora Kresse (Bruce) Leifheit; brothers, Johann and Josef Kresse; sisters, Margarete, Anna, and Dorthea all of Austria. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Sidonia Kungl, of Mogadore, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Eva Kresse (Kungl); brother, Walter (Renate) Kresse of Austria; sister, Brigitte Roshker of Austria; son, Herbert Kresse Jr; daughter, Susan Kresse Fister (Fred); grandsons, Kyle (Cassie) and Michael Leifheit; step-grandson, Ryan (Mariah) Leifheit; also by many sisters-in-law, a brother-in-law, nieces, and nephews that were all very close.
Cremation has taken place and there will be a private family gathering in honor of him at a later time. One of Herb's favorite sayings was, "see ya later!" In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Hospital or Haven of Rest.
