Herbert J. Wanzie "AE8F"
Herbert J. Wanzie, 73, of Clinton, went to be with the Lord on March 29, 2007. Herb was born on December 6, 1933 in Akron to the late Herbert and Elizabeth Wanzie. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. after 41 years of service. He was a member of VFW Post 3383. Herb was an amateur "ham" radio operator since 1977 and made contacts all over the world. He belonged to the Goodyear Amateur Radio Club and the Silvercreek Amateur Radio Club. He was involved with the Boy Scouts his whole life, first as a scout and then as a leader. Herb will be deeply missed by his wife of 50 1/2 years, Helen. He also leaves his children and their families: David and Karen Wanzie and Nathaniel (Stefania) Wanzie, Mindy (Rod) Schulz, and Kevin Wanzie; Daniel and Helen Wanzie; Debra and Richard Rhodes and Kristen, Richard Jr., Emmalee, and Joshua Rhodes; and Diane and Donald Ralston and Johnathon, Nicole, and Bryan Ralston; and sister, Bette (Jim) Russell. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. with visitation from 10-11 a.m. at Arlington Church of the Nazarene, 1057 Triplett Blvd., with Pastor Darrell Frazier officiating.
