Hilda P. Strahler, 84, of Mogadore, passed away April 29, 2011. She was born on March 23, 1927 in Patton, Pennsylvania to the late Leo and Blanche Weakland. Hilda retired from Monarch Rubber Co. after 25 years of service. During her employment, she served as a union representative and later as the president of the Retirees Union. She was a member of the Divorced and Widowed Catholics and the Mudhens. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Mahlon Castilow; daughter, Mary Horning; sister, Helen Bowen; and son-in-law, James Ickes. She will be deeply missed by her husband, Roy Strahler; children, Marilyn (Frank) Snyder, Kathleen Ickes, James (Sandy) Castilow, and John Castilow; sister, Leona Weakland; brother, Leo (Pat) Weakland; grandchildren, Doug (Darlene) Snyder, Dan Snyder, Dennis (Amanda) Snyder, Steve Nagy, Eric Nagy, Angela (Perry) Keeling, Jamie Castilow, Jeremiah (Gina) Gaspar, Tricia (Jay) Myers, Jeffrey Horning, and Maria Castilow; 16 great-grandchildren; and many stepchildren, nieces, and nephews. Hilda's family wishes to thank the caregivers at Summa T-2 ICU for all their support. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Church in Randolph, 2643 Waterloo Rd. Everyone please meet at church. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Church to support the grotto.
