Homer Scott, Jr., 82, died July 12, 2012, at his home. Born in Akron on November 8, 1929. He was one of eight children. Homer served during the Korean War as a Navy Seabee. He worked various jobs before retiring from Goodyear Tire and Rubber, Rim plant after over 30 years of service. A devoted husband of 49 years, a loving father of three and grandfather of nine. He was a Shriner, a Mason, and a very good friend to all he met, leaving him with a long list of nicknames.
Preceded in death by his wife, Edna Mae; sisters, Margaret, June, and Lois; brothers, Floyd and Donald. Survivors include son, Jeffery Warren (Debbie) Scott, of Mechanicsville, VA; daughters, Karen Boyd (Fred) Ward, of Uniontown, Norma (Richard) Crawley, of Stow; brother, Carl (Ann) Scott, of Akron; and numerous extended family.
It was Homer's wishes to be cremated. A memorial service for family and friends will be held Wednesday, 10 a.m., at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Inurnment to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to VFW Post #8975, 1649 Krumroy Rd., Akron, OH 44306.
