Horace G. Dyser, Jr., 92, passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, August 15, 2019. He was born on February 10, 1927 in Akron to Horace, Sr. and Gladys (Fitch) Dyser. Horace grew up in Lakemore, Ohio and graduated from Springfield High School, where he was a highly scouted LHP, holding many school baseball records. After high school Horace served in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1945-46 as a member of Company M, 5th Infantry of the 71st Division. He also served as MP Guard during the Nuremberg Trials and was awarded the WWII Victory Ribbon and Army Occupation Medal for his service during the war. After serving in the Army, Horace was signed by the New York Yankees and pitched two seasons in the minor leagues before an injury to his arm ended his baseball career. After baseball he worked at Goodyear Aerospace until he retired in 1988 with over 35 years of service. Horace spent much of his retirement spending time with his family and watching baseball, especially his New York Yankees.

He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 62 years, Shirley; son, Billy (Wanda); daughters, Vicki and Betty; grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Jimmy, Julie and Laurie; great grandson, Logan.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the many people involved with his home care which allowed him to remain at home with his family.

The funeral service and military honors will take place Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at 11 a.m. in the Hillside Memorial Park Chapel, 1025 Canton Rd., Akron. Those who wish may make memorial donations to the Cleveland Clinic Akron General Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Rd., Akron, Ohio 44333.
