Howard Black, Jr., 71, passed away January 8 at home after a 3 year battle with multiple illnesses. He had served in the US Army and Navy. Retired from Admiral Equipment - Dow Chemical. Howard will be greatly missed by Norma Jean; daughter, Nancy (Harvey) Witherspoon; grandchildren, Jamie (James), Brandon and Torrey; great-grandchildren, Todd, Bridgette and Brianna; brother, Harold (Phyllis) Black; nieces, Jo, Becky (Donald) Lisa and Sarah; sister, Cheryl (Steve) Robinson; nephews, Danny (Nobue), Eric (Starr), Connor, Logan and Bradyn. Calling hours will be Monday, Jan. 12, from 11 to 12 noon at the Ivy Chapel at Greenlawn Memorial Park on Romig Road in Akron, where a funeral service will be conducted at 12 noon, with Rev. Fleary Spurlock officiating. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
