Howard H. "Bud" Cox
Howard H. "Bud" Cox, 78, passed away August 12, 2008. Born in Akron on November 3, 1929, he graduated from East High School, served in the military during the Korean Conflict, and retired from Loral Corp in 1988. Bud was a member of Clearview United Methodist Church, Mayfarer Lodge #789 (formerly Englebeck), Falls Order of Eastern Star #245 (formerly ElletStar), and Yusef Khan Grotto. Throughout his life he enjoyed golf, bowling, hunting, softball, ice skating, billiards, and the many friends along the way. He was preceded in death by his infant son, Bruce Allen; mother, Betty (Charles "Pappy") Cox; father, James (Dorothy) Bray; and in-laws, Hazel and Kenneth Kohler. He was a most loving husband, father, and friend to his survivors: wife, Joan, with whom he shared 57 years of marriage; son, Gary Cox (Sharyn Chapman); daughter, Leanne Sprouse (Paul); stepdaughter, Kathy Blair (Bob); sisters, brothers, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Words could never express our love for him and all the good memories we shared. A special family thank you to all those involved at Summa, especially Dr. Patel. "Remembered, missed, but never forgotten. Until we meet again." Calling hours will be Friday from 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. with Masonic services at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday at the funeral home at 11 a.m. with visitation from 10-11 a.m. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park with military honors provided by Firestone VFW 3383. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Clearview United Methodist Church would be appreciated.
