Howard P. Mendenhall
Howard P. Mendenhall, 78, a life long resident of Akron, passed away February 24, 2006. Howard was the owner of Ellet Meat Market until 1988. He was also a very accomplished hunter and sportsman and enjoyed being in the outdoors. Howard was a man of integrity, values and a strong work ethic. He had a great love for his family and will be missed not only by them but by all who knew him.
Howard is preceded in death by his parents William and Clara (nee Jones) Mendenhall; sister Ada Milhoan; brother Earl Mendenhall. He leaves behind to remember him, his loving wife of 56 years Delores of Akron; daughters Denise Daugherty (Daniel) of Brunswick, OH Darlene Hensel (Leonard) of Oswego, IL, Deanna Main (Bruce) of Akron, OH; sisters Mildred Ganz of Tennesee, Ethel Matthews of Akron, OH; brother Ralph Mendenhall of Nevada; grandchildren Michelle Lewis, Paul Lewis, Danette Waddle, Meghan Culver, Adrienne Hensel, Kristina Hensel, Steve Main, Thomas Main; great grandchildren Caleb Waddle, Courtney Culver and Madison Culver.
Family and Friends may call on Monday from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home 131 N Canton Rd. Mass of a Christian Burial will be Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1584 Creighton Ave. Prayers at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to Christ the King Church or for a Memorial Bench c/o Ohio Veteran's Home 3416 Columbus Ave, Sandusky OH 44870-5598.
