Howard E. Raymond
Howard Elwood Raymond, 83, passed away peacefully May 11, 2007 after a year of illness related to Parkinson's Disease while living at Autumn Hills Manor in Niles OH. Howard was born July 24, 1923 to the late Guy and Margaret Raymond in Kent OH. The family later moved to Newton Falls OH where he graduated from Newton Falls High School in 1941. Howard ranked first in the State in Biology while in high school. Howard graduated from Kent State University, after having his schooling interrupted by World War II, in which he fought in Germany in the 99th Infantry Unit in the Battle of the Bulge. Upon returning from Germany Howard worked as an analytical chemist for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. for 33 years. Howard enjoyed reading about science and history. He also enjoyed stamp collecting, gardening and collecting miniature antique cars. He especially enjoyed attending monthly high school reunions in Newton Falls. Howard also attended Goodyear Heights Baptist Church. Besides his parents Howard is also preceded in death by his sisters Roberta Myers and Jeanette Dodd, daughter in law Rebecca and son David who died following the Vietnam War. Howard is survived by his wife of 38 years, Ruth; sons Gary (Gladys) of Columbia SC, James (Sandra) of Lexington SC, Marlan (Jean) of Rootstown OH, Kirk (Christine) of Richfield OH; daughter Eunice (Russell) Hamric of Kent OH; 7 grandchildren Melisa Hensley, Scarlet Taylor, Ben Osborne and Eric Raymond, David and Brandon Hamric and Justin Raymond; 2 great-grandchildren Emma and Dalton Taylor; step-daughters Bonnie Loomis and Beverly Miller; step-sons Stan (Elena) Loomis, Dale (Susan) Loomis and Don (Donna) Loomis. He was Pop Pop to 11 step-grandchildren Eric (Linda) Miller, Jenni (Donny) Miller-Betts, Marybeth (Andy) Loomis-Siegfried, Cheri (James) Loomis-McCandless, Bill (Pam) Loomis, Shannon Loomis, Nichole (Scott) Loomis-Calderhead, Heather Loomis, Christopher (Christine) Loomis, Aimee (Dan) Loomis-DeMarco, Carrie Loomis and 9 step-greatchildren. Services will be held on Tuesday May 15 at 1 pm at the Goodyear Heights Baptist Church, 1767 Goodyear Blvd, Akron with visitation from 12 to 1.
