Howard F. Robison II, of Akron, Ohio, died February 11, 2022, at Akron City Hospital. He died unexpectedly, but peacefully, after a brief encounter with pneumonia and associated complications. He was 86 years young.
Howard (Bud, Father Robison, Old Fart, Friend) was born in 1935 to Howard Robison I & his wife Erna (Julissen). He graduated from Akron Central High School in 1953, then enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged after serving 4 years during the Korean War.
Howard then joined the Akron Police Department and served from 1963 to 1992 before retiring as a Detective in the Missing Persons Department. He then served 6 additional years with the Summit County Sherriff's Department before fully retiring. Howard was an active member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Mogadore VFW and always enjoyed spending time with his Fraternal and Veteran brothers.
Howard was predeceased by his sisters, Betty, Annie, Mary, Judy and Jo Anne, and wife of 27 years Dorothy (Wilkins-Ritchey) Robison.
Howard is survived by his wife, Pauline; his brother-in-law, Frank Arldt; and his blended family and children, Cindy Ritchey, Debbie and King Chan, Harry Ritchey, Jr. and wife, Linda, Cindy Trenter, Howard Robison III and his significant other, Kristin Lester, Michelle and Kurt Fair, Melissa and Angel Rojas; and many beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Father Robison's words of wisdom were always "Short and sweet" and "Slow and easy" and his willingness to share his experience and opinions was one of his most endearing characteristics. He was loved by many and will be remembered and missed by many, many more.
Howard's favorite poem was "Footprints", and his favorite bible verse was John 11: 25-26.
Funeral services will be held at 5:00 PM on Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 North Canton Road, Akron, Ohio, where Rev. Sherman L. Bailey will celebrate Howard's life.
Following the service, visitation will continue until 8:00 PM.
