Icie Buton Hinkle (nee Page), 86, went home to be with the Lord while surrounded by family on March 9, 2021 in Bonita Springs, Florida. Icie was born in Akron on July 19, 1934 to the late John and Pearl Page. As Icie liked to say, she was "The Last Page in the Book". Icie will always be remembered for her friendly spirit. She blessed everyone with her infectious smile and a warm greeting - if she didn't know your name, she just called you "Lucy". She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She was also devoted to the Lord and was a longtime member of Grace Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Icie was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Hinkle; and sisters, Verdell Nail and Doris Sheperd.
She is survived by her children, Linda (Tim) Essex, Kimberly (Richard) Jaklitch, Jerry (Tony) Hinkle and Tom (Holly) Hinkle; grandchildren, Misty (Scott) Essex, Andrea (Ralph) Szczygla, Mallory (Jack) Thomas, Joshua (Samantha) Hinkle, Daniel Hinkle, Gregory Hinkle, and David "Moe" (Rachel) Hagenbaugh, Jr.; five great-grandchildren; other daughter, Linda Horne; and longtime friend, Margie Metcalf. She also leaves her beloved black cat, Sylvester AKA Pete.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 from 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
