Special Homegoing Services and a Celebration of life for Idella Jane Butts, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend to many. Idella Jane Butts was born June 27, 1932 in Milledgeville, Georgia. Our beloved, Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother went home to be with the Lord on November 4, 2022. She resided in the community for 60 years after relocating from her hometown in Georgia. To know our mother was to love her. She will be greatly missed by her children, her grands and a host of relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Idella Barlow Butts, her husband of 56 years, Henry Butts Sr., sisters Cora L. Woolfork, Rosa Lee Larkin and brothers Arthur, Jr. Robert and Freddie Butts, grand-daughter Symphony, son-in-law Levy Walters, and grandson-in-law Tony Jones.
She leaves behind to mourn her loss, her daughters, Barbara Beverly, Vernista Butts-Walters, Patricia Butts, her sons, Joseph Butts and Henry Butts, Jr.(Montrella), her grandchildren, Nicole (William), Adrienne, Damon (Rena), Jovan, Tremaine (Jenessa), Champagne, Brandi, Brandon, Desmond, Jodie, Jasmine (Joshua), Joey, Shanieka, James Jr., Jibril and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and special friends.
She loved the Church and was a faithful member for many years where she also survived many of her beloved pastors. She began working at a very young age and retired from Firestone Country Club, retiring after 55+ years of excellence. While working as a Chef, she cooked for
many renowned golf pros, Bobby Nichols, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus but her all time favorite was of course Tiger Woods. To them she was known as Firestone's Mama.
This great Lady met everyone with a smile and did not meet any strangers. She treated you like she had known you forever. Her real passion was loving people and treating them right. A Firestone Country Club reporter asked her what most people do not know about her, she
responded, "Most people don't know that I'm willing to help anyone as much as I can and it makes me happy to do so." That was our Mama. So we bid farewell to this shining example of a wonderful human being. To all of this we're saying Rest well Angel. Go with God. You will be truly missed. Your Loving Family!
Visitation will be held Saturday, November 19, from 2:00pm to 3:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron) where services will be held at 3:00pm with Pastor Shirley Swain officiating.
The family invites you to sign the online guestbook and share fond memories.
