Ila I. Miller

December 17, 1929 — February 19, 2025

Akron

On February 19, 2025, Ila Imogene Miller transitioned from this life back home to be with the Lord. An extraordinary woman whose legacy will continue to grow in the generations left to honor her memory.

Born December 17, 1929 in Monticello Kentucky, the oldest of three and the only girl born to Ophelia Peyton Allen and William McKinley Allen.

She attended Monticello public schools and later met Richard Miller. The two were wed at the age of 20 on May 25, 1950. They moved to Dayton and later relocated to Akron Ohio in the early 1950s. Ila loved the work she did for Akron Public school for over 20 years until she retired in the 90s to be with family. Ila was a member of True Deliverance Church and a founding member of Jerusalem Missionary Baptist church, both of Akron Ohio. She enjoyed spending time with her children and family and frequently went on outings with loved ones as well as watching her favorite Food Network shows with those close to her. She was a beacon of love, warmth, and kindness. She dedicated her life to her family, offering endless support, comfort, and joy. Her home was a place of laughter, delicious meals, and unconditional love. She was a woman of remarkable strength and grace, finding joy in life’s simple moments.

She will be remembered for her Christian faith, generous spirit, warm hugs, and the countless little ways she made life brighter for those around her. Whether through her kind words, her infectious laughter, or her quiet acts of kindness, Ila touched the hearts of everyone she met.

Ila is reunited with her grandmother Patsy Hughley Peyton Coyle, parents Ophelia and Willian Allen, aunt Anne Coyle Ingram, brother Wendell Allen, and husband Richard Miller.

Those left to cherish her memory are her brother, Alonzo (Lena) Allen of Monticello KY; sister in law Juanita (Wendell) Allen of Monticello KY; her four children, Richard Michael (Yon) Miller II of Austin TX, Debra (Bishop Charles) Parmer of Cleveland OH, Mya (William) McClain of Akron OH, and Dionne Miller-Fitch of Akron OH; Eight grandchildren, Shanice Miller-Owens, Kimberly Sanders, Yal Wrikton, Ainslee (Jade) Johnson-Brown, Kwame Barksdale, Brittany Barksdale, Mi’-Chael Fitch, Christian Bolling; 22 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren and a host of loving nieces and nephews.
