Irene L. Belt, 86, of Akron, went home to be with the Lord on October 7, 2007. She was born October 17, 1920 in Mt. Pleasant, Pennsylvania to the late George & Anna (Clebick) Zelina. Irene was an active member of Ernest Angley's Grace Cathedral for over 46 years. Irene dedicated most of her life doing volunteer work at the church, including visiting hospitals, counseling and being a Levite. She retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. with 33 years of service. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Jack Belt; son, Jackie Belt; 9 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her son, Richard Belt and his fiancée, Cindy; many nieces, nephews, friends and little dog, Milo. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 - 7 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. where funeral services will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Robert Hoffman officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.
