Irene F. Goodwin, 82, of Akron, passed away March 22, 2010. Irene was born in Akron on April 20, 1927. She was preceded in death by her husband, James S. Goodwin; parents, Charles and Annie Allshouse; sisters, Grace Marsh and Mae Edwards; brothers, William, Charles, Herman, and Harry Allshouse; and mother-in-law, Bessie Stephens. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah (John) Bonnette; sons, David (Sandra), James (Camille), Kenneth (Dee), Richard (Susan), Donald (Rebecca), and Joseph Goodwin, all of Akron; 26 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Allshouse; brother-in-law, Hubert Rardon; many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. Irene retired from Little Forest where she worked in the laundry. Her family would like to thank Dr. Brittney Lookabaugh and all the staff at Family Medicine Center for their wonderful care, kindness, and friendship they gave our mother. Thanks also to the staff and friends at Summa Renal Center and Akron City Hospital ICCU Unit. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park.
