Irene S. Leftwich

Irene S. Leftwich, 98, of Akron, passed away on December 23, 2018. She was born in Cliffview, VA on March 29, 1920 to the late Luther and Ida Sizemore. Irene grew up in Virginia and moved to the Akron area with her husband in the 1940s. She retired from General Motors after 28 years of service as an inspector. Irene had many interests, including bingo, quilting, and crossword puzzles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walton Leftwich; daughter, Molly Salter; and six siblings. She will be dearly missed by her siblings, Faye (Mike) Terranova, Patricia Wilfred, and Bill (Bev) Sizemore; grandchildren, Tim (Dorene) Sees, Kim (Mark) Sokol, Penny (Brian) Lukinac, and David Sees; four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018 from 5-7 followed by a 7 p.m. funeral service at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. Irene will be privately laid to rest in Galax, VA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army.
