Irene Jeanette (Campbell) Nicodemus, age 84 of Tallmadge, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2021.
Irene was born on December 20, 1936 in Akron, Ohio to Allen and Allie (Queen) Campbell. She graduated from Ellet High School in 1954 where she was a cheerleader. She raised 4 boys in her younger years while working various temporary jobs. Then in 1976, she took over as a secretary at the First Congregational Church of Akron. She retired in 2001 after 25 years of service.
She was an avid volleyball player most of her life. One of her prized accomplishments was achieving "Life Master" as a Bridge player, she also enjoyed singing in the choirs at First Congregational Church of Akron and Tallmadge United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Allen (Dorothy) Campbell, Kenneth (Jonnie) Campbell, and Edward (Juanita) Campbell, sister, Eileen (Jerry) Ullrich, and great grandson, Joshua Knafel.
She is survived by her husband of nearly 65 years, Donald George, sons, Gerald Gregory (Beverly), Jeffrey Thomas (Elsie), George Allen, and Bradley Eric, grandchildren, Laura (Bill) Axline, Mary (Erin) Grzegorek, Megan (Brian) Moore, Jannelle (Joel) Giacamo, Joel Rondinella and Eric Bettinger, Jennifer Jeanette (Andrew) Knafel, Christopher (Briana) and Michael Nicodemus, Johanna and Mary Pat Nicodemus,11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Friends and family are invited to visit at 10 a.m. on November 16, 2021 at the Tallmadge United Methodist Church at 207 N. Munroe Road, Tallmadge, Ohio 44278. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11 a.m.
