Irene C Rankine, age 94, passed away after a long illness on Monday June 25, 2007 at Heather Knoll Nursing Facility. Mrs Rankine was born in Youngstown, OH on September 22, 1912 to the late Clarence and Hazel Irene Philips. Mrs Rankine was a member of the Masonic Order of Eastern Star. Mrs Rankine also spent some time in Florida before coming back to Akron recently. Mrs Rankine is preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles Rankine and 2 sisters. Mrs Rankine is survived by her children, Margaret Oppihle, Charles W Rankine (Pat), John "Jack" Rankine (Joan), William Rankine (Cheryl), and Terry Rankine; 5 sisters; 1 brother; 9 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and sister in law Agnes Bagley. Family will receive friends on Monday July 2, 2007 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N Canton Rd, Akron from 11-1 pm with the funeral service to follow at 1 pm. Interment Hillside Memorial Park. The family would like to thank Heather Knoll and Hospice of Summa for all their care to Mrs Rankine.
