Ivan S. Foster

Ivan S. Foster, 79, passed away on April 27, 2007. He was born in Akron to the late Edward and Helen Foster. Ivan served with the US Marine Corps. during the Korean war. He first retired from the Akron Board of Education after 38 years of service. He later worked as a paperboy and retired again from Goodyear Heights Presbyterian Church as a custodian, where he was a member and served as a deacon. Ivan also loved sports of all kinds. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Patricia. Survivors include his daughter Sheri Kovacs; son David (Bianka); sisters Doris Smith, Ellen (Earl) Stout, and Claudia and Karen Foster; brother Russell (Maxine); grandchildren Jennifer (Ellis) Evans, Heather Kovacs (Mike Minx), Alexander, Nikolas, and Tristana Foster; and 2 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Monday, 1 p.m. at Goodyear Heights Presbyterian Church, 1430 Goodyear Blvd., Rev. J. Christy Ramsey officiating. Interment at Rose HIll Burial Park. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Goodyear Heights Presbyterian Church.
