Jack W. Carlton

October 13, 1939 — May 29, 2018

Jack "Pa" W. Carlton, 78, of Akron, passed away on May 28, 2018. Jack was born and raised in Akron, and graduated from South High School. He coached and umpired little league baseball in Firestone Park for many years. Jack retired from Firestone Tire and Rubber Company after 30+ years of service. His fondest memories working for Firestone were in the racing division, where he traveled and met many of NASCAR's greatest drivers. When Jack was in junior high school, he met the love of his life, Judy (Warters), and the two spent 60 years of marriage together. Jack was very proud of his grandchildren and all of their accomplishments.

Jack was preceded in death his parents, Linza and Lillian Carlton; brother, James Carlton; and grandchildren, Trisha and Jason Carlton.

Jack was survived by his wife, Judy Carlton; children, Jack (Judy) Carlton, Jeff (Lori) Carlton, and Julie (Dan) Gump; sister, June (Jim) Gibson; sister-in-law, Bonnie Carlton; grandchildren, Jeffery Carlton, Cameron "Odie" (Haley) Gump, Paige "Peachy" (Clinton) Bowen, and Rylee Faith.

A funeral service will be held at 10am on Saturday June 2, 2018 at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 2580 Romig Rd., Akron, OH 44320.

Jack was incredibly proud of his grandchildren's service in the USMC, because of this please consider a memorial donation in lieu of flowers to the Fisher House at www.fisherhouse.org.
