Jack L. Mantz, 64, of Akron, passed away February 10, 2010. He was born in Akron on July 16, 1945. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and retired from the Akron Board of Education. Jack loved spending time with his family and friends and his stories and love of life will be an inspiration to all forever. He was preceded in death by his father, Steve Flesher and his first wife, Susan Mantz. He is survived by his wife, Sue; children, Ray Mantz and Jane (Dennis) Grosskopf; mother, Betty Flesher; siblings, Jim, Dana (Jim), Janet (Merle), Janice (Kenny), Sam, Tim, and Steve (Vena); grandchildren, Dennis Jr. and Abigale; stepchildren, Jimmy (Elaine), Eddy, and Rachael; numerous relatives and friends, including lifetime friend, Mike Toomey, Kenny Childress, and Sonny. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. Graveside service will be FRIDAY at 1:30 p.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
