Jack Lyons
Jack Lyons, age 82, went to be with the Lord, surrounded by his family, on June 18, 2008. He was born in Parkersburg, WV on October 7, 1925, and had been an Akron resident for 55 years. He served in the Navy and Army National Guard during the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents John F. Lyons and Mabel A. Whitlock Lyons; brothers Todd, Bill, Lou Lyons, and Eddy Bailes; and grandson Jeremy Lyons. Jack is survived by his wife Gladys, of 58 years; sons Randal and David (Debra) Lyons; daughter Rebecca Speelman. He will be fondly remembered by his 6 grandchildren Sybil Collier, David Lyons, Jr., Chad and Megan Speelman, and Christina and Sara Lyons; and 3 great-grandchildren. Calling hours will be Sunday, 2-6 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where a funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m., Pastor Kim Lawrence officiating. Interment at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Military honors provided by Firestone VFW Post 3383. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service, 3358 Ridgewood Rd. Akron, OH 44333. Thanks to their special care, Jack lived his last days in comfort.
