Jack R. Oplinger
Jack R. Oplinger, 81, of Lakemore, passed away December 12, 2004 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born November 3, 1923 in Akron, Ohio to the late Mearl W. & Ida M. (McGuffin) Oplinger. Jack proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and later retired from the City of Akron Highway Maintenance Dept. after 30 years of service. He was a life-member of Airport V.F.W. 8975 and a life-member of Army-Navy #273. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, John Oplinger; grandchildren, Thomas Ray Oplinger II and Trista Lynn Oplinger; brothers, Eugene, Chuck, Carl and Bill Oplinger. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Helen (Jenkins) Oplinger of Lakemore; daughter, Connie (Dan) Wilson of Lakemore; son, Thomas Ray (Carol) Oplinger of Albany, KY; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, John of Arizona and Joe (Dorothy) of California. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 6 8 p.m. at NEWCOMER-FARLEY FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd. and on Thursday from 12 1 p.m. with funeral services beginning at 1:00 p.m. with Chaplain Robin Imbrigiotta officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park with Army-Navy #273 providing military honors.
