Jack R. Starkey
Jack R. Starkey, 80, of Stow, was reunited with the one true love of his life and his wife of 52 years, Barbara on February 28, 2005. He was born December 13, 1924 in Granger Township, Ohio to the late Grover & Alberta (Springston) Starkey. He served his country loyally during WWII in the U. S. Army. Jack retired after many years in the trucking industry. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed taking long drives and visiting his children. In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Chuck, Tom and Jim and his sister, Midge. He is survived by his daughter, "Daddy's little girl," Jacquelyn of Akron; son, David (Sunhee) of Akron, to whom Jack was a great mentor; brother, Paul (Ann) Starkey; sister-in-law, Dorothy Starkey; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Bill & Shirley Hannold and Mike & Donna Karam. He was a loving and caring man and will be missed by many. Calling hours will be Thursday from 6 - 8 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. where funeral services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Brenda Young officiating. Entombment will follow at Northlawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
