Jackie Lee Simms, 51, passed away March 12, 2010 surrounded by his loving family. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Jackie was an avid outdoorsman, a member of the NRA, and enjoyed woodworking. He was preceded in death by his father, Jackie P. Jackie is survived by his daughters, Sharis Peppeard, and Tabitha Atkinson; son, Immanuel Bowen Simms; grandchildren, Destyne, Skylar, and Kadyn; mother, Bernadine Garrett; brothers, Ken Simms, Ronald Simms, John Simms, Steve Simms, Norman Simms, David Simms, and Jason Simms; sister, Sandra Rose; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. A visitation will be held Tuesday, March 16, from 9 to 10 am at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where a service will follow at 10 am with Pastor Virgil Elkins officiating. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
