Jackson L. Hagenbaugh
Jackson L. Hagenbaugh, 78, went home to be with the Lord on January 26, 2010 surrounded by his loving family to join his wife, Margaret, one day after what would have been their 56th wedding anniversary. He was a member of the Akron Baptist Temple for over 30 years. Jack was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in the Korean War. He owned and operated Brittan Rd. Marathon for 15 years and then owned Interstate Battery of N.E. Ohio until 1994. Jack was a mentor to many young men over the years by setting an example of love of family and strong work ethics. He was a man of few words, but his willingness to help others showed his compassion and big heart. Jack spent his last 5 years at Greenview Inn enjoying meals with Eric, Bill, and Paul, and spending his days reading. Preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Margaret, whom he cherished and adored; brothers, Charles, Richard, Michael, and Gerald; and sister, Marilyn. He is survived by his children, Stephen (Vicki) Hagenbaugh and Sue (George) Johnson; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, Lawrence (Corrine) and Harry (Eileen); sisters, Joanne Nace, and Kay (James) Racco; sister-in-law, Shirley (James) Glenister; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be sorely missed by everyone, especially his closest grandson, Jason; his namesake, Jackson; and his loving caregivers, Kristy, Colleen, and Amy. Calling hours will be held Sunday, January 31, from 4 to 8 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where a funeral service will be held on Monday, February 1, at 10:30 am with a visitation one half hour prior. Rev. Brent Malone will officiate. Entombment to follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or The Arthritis Foundation.
