Jacqueline Yvette Ebner, a woman who’d happily tell you she was “older than dirt,” passed away on April 20, 2025. Born on April 14, 1944, in Benham, Kentucky, she was the spirited daughter of Virginia Hodges (Copin) and Jack Hodges.
Jackie’s up there catching up with her beloved husband, William Ebner, her sister Constance Letta, and her son Christopher Ebner, likely already organizing a heavenly happy hour. We can imagine the laughter echoing.
Jackie wielded her charm and wit for many wonderful years as the Public Relations Director at Summit DD. She was an avid gardener, a night owl, loved crosswords, and was fiercely protective of her family.
Down here, missing her terribly but smiling at the memories, are her daughter and son-in-law, Shannon and John Arvai Jr.; her granddaughter and her husband, Danielle and Roberto Capotosto; her grandson, “My Guy” John Arvai III; her great-grandson, Enzo Capotosto, and several dear friends.
We’ll be gathering to celebrate Jackie’s life – the laughter, the love, and yes, probably a few stories that would make her blush – on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 from 5:00-7:00pm at Newcomer Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, Jackie would want you to donate to United Disability Services at https://www.udsakron.org/giving-volunteering/donate/. Donations can also be mailed to United Disability Services, c/o Evelyn Burkhart, 701 S. Main St., Akron, OH 44311. Or maybe enjoy a good glass of wine in her honor. She always had excellent taste.
So, farewell, for now, Jackie. Thanks for the laughs and the love and for showing us how to live life with a bit of sparkle and a lot of heart. We’ll try our best to keep the stories going until we meet again.
