James E. Baker

James E. Baker, 71, passed away April 1, 2022 with his family by his side. Born in Akron, Ohio to Earl and Rena (Ballenger) Baker, he was a lifelong area resident. Jim retired from Cleveland Cliffs (Arcelor-Mittal) after 50 years of service. He greatly enjoyed gambling, fishing, drag racing, camping, playing golf, going on cruises with his wife and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Ron. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 21 years, Mary; children, Jim (Bonny), Angela (Chris), Lisa (Troy); step-children, Doug (Maureen), Angie, Melissa, Jason (Sabrina); many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Family and friends are invited to visit Wednesday, April 6, 2022 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Newcomer, Akron Chapel, 131 N. Canton Rd. The funeral service will take place Thursday, April 7 at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Those who wish may make memorial donations in Jim's name to the Humane Society of Summit County.
