James Richard Blatt

James Richard Blatt, age 87, passed away and went to be with his Lord Tuesday, April 20, 2021 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He attended Carnegie Tech where he played football and was a member of the Kappa Sigma fraternity. Jim briefly served in the US Air Force as a prelude to his career at Goodyear Tire and Rubber where he worked for 30 years as an engineer. He enjoyed spending time with his family, attending every event that involved his daughter or his grandchildren. He loved playing games and was in multiple Euchre and Bridge clubs. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Julia Blatt as well as his siblings William Blatt Jr. and Jean McGuire. He is survived by his wife and sweetheart of 56 years, Ina Blatt, sisters Carol Tilbrook and Judy Blatt, daughter Lyssa (Jeffrey) Darrah, grandchildren Justin Frye (Abbey Lucas), Melissa (Zach) Stauffer, Taylor Darrah, and great granddaughter Annabelle Stauffer. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, April 25 at Canton Grace Brethren Church, 6283 Market Ave. N, Canton, OH 44721. Calling hours start at 2pm with a service commencing at 3pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St Jude's Children's Hospital.
