James W. Boykins, Sr. (aka. Bro, Jimmy), 74, peacefully passed away on November 19, 2021 in his home in Tallmadge, OH while surrounded by his children.
James was born February 3, 1947 to the late Lillian Lucille Hairston and the late James Marshall and was raised by Carrie Boykins.
He was preceded in death by his oldest son Michael Williams; parents; siblings: Lillian Wilder, Jimmy Marshall, Brenda Davis, Stephanie Marshall.
He is survived by his children: James Jr., Tiffany, Tara, Jason Boykins, and Major Miller; siblings: Ronnie (Della), Nate, Mike (Karen) Hairston, Joyce Crandel; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
James was a proud veteran, having served in the United States Army.
James was well known and loved by everyone everywhere. He was always the life of the party and never met a stranger. He loved to dance but he is most known for his love and passion for cars that he had since childhood. He acquired such skills that he would build Go Carts and his own rollercoaster in a tree. Everyone trusted James for all their car repairs and businesses sought him out for his talent to paint and detail cars for them. Because of his unconditional love, generosity, and kindness, no child ever went without and he touched the lives of so many. He has departed this world but not our hearts and will forever be missed.
Special thank you to ADORATION HOSPICE for the love that you've shared with our family during this journey.
James will be laid to rest on Friday, December 10, 2021 at 1:45 p.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Family and friends may arrive at Newcomer Funeral Home at 12:30 p.m. to join the procession to the cemetery.
Condolences can be sent to 909 Jason Ave., Akron, OH 44314.
