James W. "Bill" Brown
James W. "Bill" Brown, Sr., age 74, died April 24, 2005. He was born in Fairmont, W. Va. to the late Clyde & Margaret (Holbert) Brown. Bill was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Korean War Conflict. Bill enjoyed the outdoors and the open road as well as being an avid golfer and bowler. He was also an excellent wood craftsman who enjoyed making toys. His favorite spot was the Holly River. Bill will be missed by all who new him. Preceded in death by his 1st wife, Flora Mae (Hawkins) Brown; two sons, Robert and George Brown; two brothers, Howard and Lawrence Brown; grandson, David Brown, Jr. and great-grandson, David Brown III. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Laverna (Collins) Brown of Akron; two daughters, Mary L. (Chris) Flanders and Debra Jost both of Akron; six sons, Jim (Rosann) Brown, David (Debbie) Brown both of Arizona, Ray (Denise) Brown, Brian Brown both of Akron, Steven Brown of Monroe Falls, Mike (Jennifer ) Brown of Stow; three sisters, Myrie Bolyard, Roberta Ann (Ralph) Masters both of W. Va., Karen Sue (David) Coe of Cutler, OH; one brother, John (Mary) Brown of Akron; 11 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Rd. with Pastor Kim Lawrence officiating. Calling hours will be from 11:00 a.m. Thursday until the service begins. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
