EDINBURG - James Clifford Campbell went to The Hereafter on March 24, 2016. He transitioned following an extended health issue while at his home with his devoted wife, Kathy, by his side. Jim was born September 22, 1936 in Logan, Ohio to parents Donald Hugh and Margaret Elinor Campbell. He was a veteran of the US Air Force (A2C) and served with the Air National Guard in Mansfield, Ohio. Jim moved to Akron in August, 1965 and was employed 44 years as a truck driver for Reiter Dairy, where he was also an active participant in the company golf league and bowling team before he retired, but maintained a lasting friendship with many co-workers. He was a member of the Ashland Depth Divers SCUBA Diving Club. His hobbies and interests included fishing, golf, woodworking and gardening.
Jim was preceded to the Next Place by his father in June, 2004, his mother in August, 2009 and his brother, Charles Edward (Jeanette) Campbell in February, 1990. Jim is survived by his wife of more than 20 years, Kathryn (Smallwood-Parsons); his sister, Martha Ellen Campbell-Platt of Murphy, NC; his brothers, John Daniel (Joyce) of Ft. Meade, FL; Donald Dean (Bonnie) of Morgantown, GA. He is also survived by his children, Cynthia D. Wachtel (Brian), of Ashland, OH and Cheryl L. Campbell of Port St Lucie, FL. He will be remembered by his children through marriage, Dale E. Parsons, Jr of Brimfield and Kelly D. White (Paul) of Coventry Twp. Jim's loved ones include seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Cremation has taken place.
A celebration of life ceremony will be held on Saturday April 9, 2016 at 1pm. Rev Carol Evans officiating. Friends may visit the chapel from 11-1pm at Newcomer Funeral Home 131 N. Canton Rd. Akron, OH 44305. In lieu of flowers, Jim asks that you make a generous donation to Summa Akron City Hospital Hospice Services, to thank them for the kind, courteous and professional level of caring provided to him by the staff.
