James D. Curry, 67, of Akron, passed away on May 8, 2017 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Jim was born in Huntington, West Virginia on June 18, 1949 and proudly served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He spent his career as a drywall finisher and belonged to the Painters Union 841. He had a deep love for his country and belonged to the American Legion 566. In his free time, he was often outdoors hunting, fishing, and gardening.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Gloria Curry. He will be deeply missed by his loving, devoted wife, Debbie; children, Shane (Jennifer) Curry, Missy Curry, Jason Curry; stepchildren, Bob Hall, Christy (Nate) Kellish, Amy Hall, Amber France; sister, Barbara (Jimbo) McDuffie; brothers, Gary (Gloria) Curry and Mark (Carla) Curry; grandchildren, Ethan, Austin, Derek, Morgan, Brianna, Lisa, Bobby, Kate, Anna, Connor, Clayton, Adriena, Blake, Riley. He also leaves special friends, including John and Virginia. Jim is now reunited with his beloved dog, Hope.
Family and friends may call on Thursday, May 11, 2017 from 5-8 p.m at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, where funeral services will be held on Friday at 8:45 a.m. with Pastor Keith Emhoff officiating. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
