James Denton Caughron
James Denton Caughron, 92, of Akron, passed away May 30, 2013. James was born in Sweetwater, Tennessee on May 16, 1921 to the late William and Lela Caughron.
He served in the U.S. Navy as an aviation mechanic and worked on Corsair F4U airplanes. He was employed at Akwell Corp. for 28 years and later retired from Goodyear. He was a lifetime member of Lakemore United Methodist Church. In his free time, James enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, and collecting coins. He was an avid baseball fan and played in his youth.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Bohnert; brothers, Bob and Ernie Caughron; and sisters, Edie Donahue and Millie Williams. He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 66 years, Josephine; children, Joe (Marie) Carron, Carol Caughron, and Marlene Caughron; son-in-law, Hank Bohnert; brother, Bill Caughron; grandchildren, Jim (Deborah) Carron, Tod (Carmen) Carron, Adam Bohnert, and Katie Bohnert; several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Family and friends may call on Monday, June 3 from 4-6 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Lakemore United Methodist Church, 1536 Flickinger Rd., Akron, OH 44312, with Rev. Jeff Gindlesberger officiating. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Lakemore United Methodist Church.
