James D. Duncan Jr.

James "Jim" D. Duncan Jr., age 70, of Akron, passed away on December 7, 2024 at Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center. He was born on August 11, 1954 to the late James Sr. and Emma Lou Duncan in Akron, Ohio. He graduated from Springfield High School in 1973. 

Along with his father and brother, James owned and operated the family business, Duncan Motor and Trailers Sales. He spent his last working years at Lowes before his retirement. 

On July 19, 1975, he married Cheryl. James and Cheryl lived in the Akron area for most of their lives together. 

He was a member of Akron Springfield Assembly of God. 

James was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. In his free time, he loved to go fishing, especially with his family. He also enjoyed attending sporting events for his grandchildren. 

James is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Cheryl; children, Jaclyn (Michael) Villasenor and Brian (Meredith) Duncan; grandchildren, Alyssa and Grayson Villasenor and Tanner and Avery Duncan; brother, Randy (Rita) Duncan; and special cousin, Tim Jones.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, James Sr. and Emma Lou Duncan. 

Family and friends are invited to visit for calling hours at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, Ohio 44305) on Thursday, December 12, 2024 from 5pm until 8pm. 

Funeral services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home (131 N. Canton Rd., Akron, Ohio 44305) on Friday, December 13, 2024 at 10:30am with Pastor Richard Serbin officiating. James will then be laid to rest at Hillside Memorial Park (1025 Canton Rd., Akron, Ohio 44312).
