James E. Laston

James E. Laston, 79, of Lakemore, passed away February 6, 2008 at Akron City Hospital. He was born June 6, 1928 in Akron, Ohio to the late Richard J. & Ruby E. (Morris) Laston. James was employed by Goodyear Aerospace before retiring from Loral Defense Systems in 1989. He was a long time member of Lakemore United Methodist Church. In his free time, he enjoyed boating, travel, photography, woodworking and helping people. Most of all, James was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Francis J. and Gene Laston; and sister, Marjory Laston. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Margaret L. Laston of Lakemore; daughter, Sandra L. Laston of San Antonio, Texas; sons, Jim (Gail) Laston of Tallmadge and Rick (Aritza) Laston of Mogadore; grandchildren, Derek, Steven, Benjamin, Eric and Phillip; great-grandchildren, Logan and Alexander; sisters, Betty James of Akron and Delores (Arthur) Boggs of West Virginia; brother, Alvin (Margaret) DePrato of Akron; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Laston of Uniontown. Funeral services will be conducted at the Lakemore United Methodist Church, 1536 Flickinger Rd., Lakemore on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Jeff Gindlesberger officiating. Interment will follow at Hillside Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the service begins.
