James M. Edmiston, 82, of Akron, passed away on December 25, 2017. He was born in Akron on January 19, 1935 to the late James and Bertha Edmiston.
Jim served in the U.S. Navy. He began working at Portage Service and Beverage in 1971, bought the business in 1984, and retired in 2000. He was a member of the B.P.O.E. In his free time, Jim enjoyed traveling, gardening, and feeding the birds and squirrels.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elizabeth "Betsy" Edmiston; and sisters, Anna Mae Bebb and Lillian Rowland. He will be deeply missed by his daughter, Krystal (Robert) Bauch; son, Scott Edmiston; daughter, Kellie (James) Weatherford; sister, Carolyn (Patrick) Murphy; brothers, Walker (Carla) and Richard (Lorraine) Edmiston; grandchildren, Shannon, Briana, and Jacquelyn Bauch and Siobhan and Declan Weatherford; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. with visitation for one hour prior on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Cleveland Clinic Visiting Nurses Hospice Center, 400 Wabash Ave., Akron, OH 44307-2463.
