James G. "Scotty" Hayes, Sr.



James G. "Scotty" Hayes, Sr., 77, was peacefully called home by his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 10, 2007, with his loving family by his side. He was born on September 1, 1930 in Akron, OH to the late James and Jesse Hayes. Scotty served with the US Army and retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Co. after 42 years of service. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Scotty enjoyed all sports, especially golf, bowling, and football. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Mickey; siblings Geri Hutchens, Midge Hendershot, and John Hayes; and pets Jenny I, Jenny II, and Joshua. Survivors include his loving wife Hilda of 56 years; daughters Cathy (Tony) Kemble, Patti (Tim) Glandorf, and Chris (Kevin Stahl) Kellar; sons Jamey (Martha) and John; 18 grandchildren; 13 1/2 great-grandchildren; loving sister-in-law Donna D'Andrea; many loving nieces and nephews; and his cherished pets Chi Chi, Mia, Sheeba, Sasha, and Maria. Calling hours will be Wednesday, 5-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., Akron. Funeral mass will be Thursday, 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church, 750 S. Main St. Akron, OH 44311.
