James S. Gershom
James S. Gershom, 78, of Akron, passed away January 1, 2008. James was born July 1, 1929 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He retired from Babcock & Wilcox and was a past president of the Coventry AARP. In his free time, James enjoyed playing bridge and earned the rank of life master. He also loved to travel and took many trips overseas with family and friends. James was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Gershom and sister, Marybelle Hebert. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Laura; children, Dorothy (Malcolm) Shaw and James Gershom; brothers, Ken, Richard (Linda), and Ron Gershom; sister, Peg (Ted) Marcum; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Sarah) and Bryan; and three great-grandchildren. Family and friends may call on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. Interment at Crown Hill Cemetery.
