James H. Rankin, Jr.

James H. Rankin, 76, of Akron, passed away August 10, 2016. James was born in Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts on January 30, 1940; son of the late James and Bertha Rankin. James retired from Cuyahoga Valley Railroad in October of 1997. He was an honorary member of the Piss & Moan Club, and his sarcasm and humorous outlook on life will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his loving spouse, Carolyn (nee Lawson); brothers; Joseph and John Rankin; and sister, Patricia Keever.

He is survived by daughter, Kelly (Duane) Speck; step-son, Michael (Casy) Haigh; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Ashlee) Speck, Alex Speck, Kaylee Haigh, Piper Haigh; great-grandson, Nolan Speck; and niece, Jeanne Rankin.

Family and friends may call on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 from 4 pm until time for funeral service at 6:30 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home, 131 N. Canton Road, Akron. James will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.NewcomerAkron.com.
