James Harvey Norman
James (Jim) Harvey Norman, 73, passed away peacefully October 24, 2005 at Ridgewood Health Care Center from respiratory failure after a short illness. As a lifetime resident of Akron, Ohio, Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Winnie and Delsie Norman of Akron; brother, Theodore (Doris) Norman of Suffield; and sister, Edith (William) Kyle of Marion. Jim is survived by his sisters, Barbara (Neil) Turner of Decatur, Indiana and Nancy Sidwell of Akron; brothers, Robert (Dawn) Norman of Fairlawn, Douglas (Joy) Norman of Akron, and Gregory (Christine) Norman of Wadsworth; as well as many loving nieces and nephews. Jim graduated from Garfield High School in 1949 and served four years in the United States Air Force, receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1954, after serving in Alaska. Jim graduated in 1959 from the University of Akron, with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting. After receiving his Certified Public Accounting (C.P.A.) License, Jim was employed by the Accounting Firm of Chilton, Stump & Devario, and the Accounting Firm of Touche Ross. Jim was self-employed for the last 28 years as a Certified Public Accountant in the Akron and Kenmore areas, retiring in March 2005 due to declining health. Jim was a member of th American Legion, Akron Lodge 83, F&AM, and the Yusef Kahn Grotto, and served two terms as President of the National Association of Accountants, Akron Chapter. The family would like to thank all the Staff at Wyant Woods Care Center, Ridgewood Health Care Center, and Hospice of Visiting Nurse Services for their professionalism and generosity during his care. Family and friends may call TODAY from 5-8 p.m. (Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m.) at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N. Canton Rd., where funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. with Rev. William Kyle officiating. Visitation from 9 a.m. until time of service. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
