James Elvin Keefer, "Jim", age 82 of New Franklin, Ohio, died on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at the Hospice Care Center in Copley.
He was born on November 30, 1935 in Leon, WV, the son of the late Elvin and Freda (nee Baker) Keefer.
Jim's greatest joy was spending his time at the "Barn" with his loving wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, the former Joyce Lynn Morrow, whom he married on September 29, 1956; his daughter, Sue (Chip) McConnell; his son-in-law, Jeff Gainer; his grandchildren, Jaime (Karl) Johnson, Max (Caterina) Ebert, Angela (Zach) Mizener, Betsy (Heath Watson) Foss, Kati (Ben) Ashley, Jacob (Allison) McConnell, Allison (Matt Hartong) McConnell, Emily (Jonathan) Morris, Katlin (Jon) Biehl, and Kristin (Greg) Funk; and 28 great-grandchildren; and his "daughter", Kathy (Kevin) Noble.
His six brothers and two sisters also survive, George, Ronald (Nina), Dennis (Mary), Donald (Theresa), Loren (Shirley), and Raymond (Stacy) Keefer, Faye Palmer, and Eileen (Chuck) Benson.
Other than his parents, Jim was preceded in death by two daughters, Debra Ebert and Nancy "Nan" Gainer; and his sister, Margaret King.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 11:30 AM at Manchester Christian Church, 930 West Nimisila Road, Akron, Ohio 44319 where family and friends may visit beginning at 11:00 AM; his nephew, Pastor Michael King will celebrate his uncle's life.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Newcomer Funeral Home-Akron.
